What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I am very recently retired and I was looking for advice on consolidating 5 small pension pots, and on how best to manage fairly substantial savings. This is with a view to achieving an income I and my partner can comfortably live on.

There's potential here for several paragraphs but I'll try to keep it short. Matthew provided absolutely first class advice. He began by reviewing and patiently helping me get a clear overview of our financial situation. Based on this he provided possible strategies, explaining pension savings options and levels of risk for savings investments. He was happy to answer all my questions and took time over this, using graphs and timeline growth forecasts to help explain possible growth outcomes. I never remotely felt hurried or pushed in any particular direction. In fact Matthew more than once made changes to a potential plan of action based on our discussions (via Zoom) and my preferences. Once a plan was agreed he clearly explained every stage of putting it into effect. When I decided I would like to invest some of the savings he was thorough in providing levels of risk backed up with evidence.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Again, absolutely first class. Matthew is a pleasure to work with. I have gone from feeling a level of anxiety related to our finances (before taking financial advice) to actually feeling buoyant and optimistic about the outcome. I feel I benefited from a high level of expertise where I have none. And this is matched with a communicative, personable and calm approach.

What could they have done better?

Nothing. I'm delighted with the outcome. I think I was helped to make good decisions and have arrived at the very best position both with my pensions (now one pension thankfully) and savings. The costs for this service have been clearly defined and appear competitive. I look forward to Matthew's continuing support. I also want to say that one particular pension provider was slow and difficult to deal with but Matthew absolutely took it in his stride and persevered successfully. I am extremely wary with trust when it comes to finances but I would have no hesitation in recommending Matthew. Most certainly 5 stars.

Yes, so far things are looking good and have a much better view to forecast a retirement plan

Sometimes we had a few delays waiting for compliance department to approve work so we could move forward.

Not yet, all relatively new but fully understand the decisions made and looking forward to the potential growth over the next 10/15 years.

I was about to start a family and my salary meant I was being taxed a lot of money so wanted to see if I could set myself up and manage my finances better
