Mark Heptinstall

Mark joined Slater Heelis in 2005 and is Head of the Family Department. He holds two part-time judicial appointments firstly as a Deputy District Judge sitting across the North West dealing with all types of civil and family cases. Mark also sits as a Recorder (a part-time Circuit Judge) specialising in more complex private & public law children proceedings. Mark is also authorised as a specialist complex financial remedies/family money Judge. Mark is recognised as a leading lawyer in the Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession and is described as a “very thorough, proactive and a hard negotiator” who “leads a great team.” Mark is recognised as a leading individual in the Legal 500 who say “Mark Heptinstall has the amazing ability to bring calm into troubled waters.’” Mark specialises in family finances including high-net worth, complex cases and often appears in court as an advocate. He has clients across the UK and these typically include business owners, other lawyers, accountants, footballers and clients with overseas connections. He has a keen interest in the resolution of cases involving contested trusts, estates, inheritances and Court of Protection matters. Mark has been active in the local law societies for many years and he is both a past President of The Trafford Law Society and previously a Manchester Law Society Council member. Mark is a member of Resolution, formerly known as the Solicitors Family Law Association and is collaboratively trained.
