View locationGeoffrey Miller Solicitors is run by Managing Director, Jeanette Miller, a.k.a. Miss Justice. In 2001, Jeanette Miller became one of the youngest Managing Partners of a solicitor’s firm in the UK at just 28 years of age when she set up her general litigation firm, JS Miller Solicitors. She is now renowned as one of the best motor offence solicitors in the country. Originally concentrating her skills on Civil Law where she achieved huge success in her own practice JS Miller Solicitors, Jeanette then went on to take over the running of her father’s practice Geoffrey Miller Solicitors, when back in 2005 it was one of the UK’s only firms specialising solely in defending drivers facing prosecution for motoring offences. Geoffrey Miller, the founding partner of the firm, has specialised in criminal law since the 1970’s. He was the first loophole lawyer with a plethora of high profile clientele and was even mentioned in George Best’s official autobiography. Jeanette is following in her father’s footsteps and has built up her own enviable reputation within the industry taking over the day to day running of the firm after her father sadly suffered a stroke in January 2005. Since then she has expanded the firm so that it is unrecognisable when compared against the firm in its infancy and is unrivalled in offering the complete package of outstanding service combined with expertise in this niche field. When it comes to fighting motoring prosecutions and particularly to winning drink driving cases, Jeanette believes she has very little competition, blowing other firms out of the water with her “no stone unturned” case preparation policy. Jeanette’s vision is what sets her apart from many other solicitors claiming expertise in the field of motoring law. She personally oversees the training of all staff at the firm to ensure her meticulous skills are mirrored throughout the firm. This leads to the superb client feedback the firm receives on a regular basis from delighted clients. Jeanette does not bamboozle her clients with solicitors’ jargon, this attribute teamed with her approachable nature means she is not the stereotypical solicitor, but is the lawyer for the people. Clients of Jeanette’s firm are required to pay for her services. This is because legal Aid was withdrawn for the majority of motoring offences in the 1990’s. When it comes to the less financially comfortable motorist, Jeanette was so frustrated at the lack of financial support available for this sector of society, that she felt compelled to write a comprehensive guide called “Fight a Motoring Ticket Kit.“ This self-help phenomenon has helped a huge number of everyday people to avoid fines and unfair prosecutions and the Lawpack can be bought for under £10! At the other end of the wealth spectrum, Jeanette represents many high profile businessmen and personalities, who would be lost should they be convicted and lose their driving licence. Jeanette believes strongly in the mantra famously quoted by Gandhi: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Taking this principle very seriously, she has been dubbed as “Miss Justice” for her work in fighting against law changes that had the propensity to greatly affect innocent motorists. Her e-petition attracted almost 22,000 signatures and resulted in an Early Day Motion being tabled in Parliament. The petition was not met with a favourable response from the PM and so the Law Society took up the cause and successfully sued the government with Jeanette’s assistance. She provided data and case studies from her own firm for use in the case to ensure that Justice was eventually done and the unfair regulations repealed! Sadly, however, the Coalition government introduced further changes in 2012 meaning that costs recovery for the innocent defendant is no longer as generous as we had fought so long for it to be. Aware of the need for social consciousness to feature in the minds of any modern business owner, Jeanette has recently taken up two causes she feels she can assist. She has been charged with the role of fund raiser for the charity, Addiction Today helping those with any type of addiction but particularly with drug and alcohol addictions. She was also appointed as an Ambassador for the Duke of Edinburgh scheme in 2010. The Duke of Edinburgh award is now available to youths serving at Her Majesty’s Pleasure in Young Offenders Institutes and Jeanette and her team are keen to give back to help inspire young people whose lives have started off on the wrong footing. Media savvy Jeanette is regularly asked to comment on motor-related stories when they break in the newspapers and has made appearances on TV and Radio, including Panorama, BBC Watchdog, BBC Breakfast, GMTV, the documentary “Driving Me Crazy”, Sky News BBC News 24 and Radio 4. Jeanette is also a regular contributor to the guestblog on the site of popular money saving website, confused.com.
