View locationI am an expert commercial and property litigation solicitor experienced in helping people in business or as individuals avoid or resolve their disputes as quickly and as painlessly as possible. Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution are my specialist areas and I assist from the initial point that the dispute arises, through to the conclusion of the particular problem. I assess often complex facts, documents and situations before then advising people how to manage the situation to achieve the best possible outcome. I strategically and accurately assess risk, and help people consider the commercial impact of the problem. My background and academic training was as a Barrister and I was called to the Bar in 2007. I later became one of the youngest Partners within an established law firm in the country. Together with my business partner I now own my own specialist firm with a growing team dedicated to resolving disputes and litigation matters. Generally my work involves assisting companies and business people avoid, resolve, mediate or litigate their disputes as quickly and as painlessly as possible. My areas of work include; • Advising and resolving company disputes between Directors and shareholders • Advising companies on their strategic development from a litigation risk perspective • Advising partners and resolving partnership disputes • Advising and litigating contract disputes • Recovering unpaid invoices and debts • Advising construction and development companies, as well as developers, in relation to land and development disputes • Pursuing unpaid service charge arrears • Obtaining urgent injunctions and freezing orders, particularly in the Technology and Construction Court (a division of the High Court), and the Chancery Division of the High Court • Advising and litigating trust disputes and rights in relation to property • Advising and resolving residential and commercial property disputes • Attending court as advocate on behalf of my clients- using my advocacy training to maximum effect on behalf of my clients. In order to be better equipped to advise my clients in the ever changing dispute resolution field I became an accredited commercial mediator (ADR Group) in 2011. This has proven invaluable in ensuring I am able to put my clients in the best possible position when negotiating or mediating a resolution of a dispute on their behalf. I have been surrounded by business and personally involved in my own business interests from a young age, successfully exiting my first business (6 employees) aged 22. As an experienced business owner myself I appreciate the demands, responsibility and core aims of most commercially minded business people. I am quick to grasp a situation and have always been focussed on litigation, being equally comfortable negotiating the best outcome in a boardroom or in making persuasive submissions to a judge in court. I enjoy the detailed analysis required to maximise my clients position, and the opportunity to use and deploy strategic thinking to protect my clients interests. I love what I do and am proud of my record of success. I completed my academic training as a Barrister in 2007 and immediately began working within the litigation department of an Eastbourne based firm of solicitors, Stephen Rimmer LLP, later cross qualifying as solicitor. My ambition and my successful approach led to my becoming a Partner and Head of the Litigation team at only 27. Over the next two years I built the team to record levels of turnover, profit, personnel and client satisfaction. Approaching 30 and as an experienced litigation lawyer in 2013 I was ready to grow my own business and decided to leave to become joint owner of Helix Law with my business partner. As a specialist team solely focussed on litigation we can provide a flexibility in approach, speed, depth of knowledge and experience that most regional law firms are unable to match. I have successfully litigated against 'City' law firms with an international presence. Ultimately our goal is to provide a better and more cost effective service to our client’s which many say we are achieving. My work in substantive disputes rarely involves one legal aspect in isolation and will generally require a significant degree of commercial acumen and accurate risk assessment at the outset- frequently overlooked. I am proud that many clients are established businesses and brands who turn to me as their first port of call whenever alarm bells ring or where their ‘spider sense’ is that commercially minded legal input will assist them. Over many years I have built relationships with professionals in a variety of industries, including other established solicitors, property professionals, surveyors and barristers, who refer their own clients to me as a specialist who they know and have confidence in being able to assist with litigation and business dispute matters.
