What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We started looking for an adviser to help us buy our first home in 2022. Sally was great then and so we used her again for our 2024 re-mortgage.

How has Sally Evans helped you?

Sally was supportive throughout the whole first time buying process and helped put our mind at ease by answering the many questions we had, in a way that made sense to us. She also introduced us to mortgage and income protection, which we hadn't considered before. Both times that we used Sally as a Mortgage Adviser (2022 and 2024), she was very responsive and able to communicate via email, phone or text depending on our needs. During the house buying process, she was really good at communicating with our solicitor, estate agent and lender so we were always aware of how things were progressing. She is reliable and it was relieving to be able to relax a bit, knowing Sally was so on the ball. Finally, during our re-mortgage, Sally also checked on our income protection to ensure it was still covering the required amount and met our needs. This was, again, not something we had thought about doing, and it was useful to do this with a trusted professional.

In 2011 and 2019 when I was buying a house on my own, I needed a mortgage to complete the sale. More recently Sally is advising my partner and I as we intend to buy a house in London through the sale of my property and by either selling or letting my partners flat using a buy to let mortgage. I have also discussed insurance and protection products in the past with Sally.

How has Sally Evans helped you?

In 2011 and 2019 Sally got me a mortgage having helped me to decide which product was right for me. Sally helped me go through my finances to gauge affordability and discussed my future plans so that the right term could be selected. The current intended purchase of a house in London has been a bit of a rollercoaster for my partner and I but Sally has stuck with us throughout. We actually secured a mortgage product earlier in the year with Sally, only for the purchase to fall through. We are now discussing buy-to-let options with Sally and not only has she given us advice on mortgage products but also the challenges we may face when structuring the finance in order to get the house we want.

Yes, that's why I've had Sally advise me for over a decade now.

What could they have done better?

I can't say Sally could have done anything better. The hardest part is making the case for affordability and making the application on the back of that. Sally was able to secure a deal for us earlier this year, the day before interest rates went up by quite literally staying on the phone with Nat West throughout the day. For us it was virtually sets free.. but still nice to hear a positive result. As previously stated, the purchase fell through so we are discussing alternative options with her at the moment.
