Gil has helped me purchase two homes this year, one being my first move to a shared ownership flat and the second being a house with my partner. Gil has spent hours on the phone with me, discussing and explaining everything to me about the whole mortgage process, I cannot truly express how grateful I am for all her help considering I knew absolutely nothing about purchasing a home beforehand and yet by the end of the move I felt I fully understood every cost due to her sharing her knowledge. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who mentions that they are looking into buying or moving house, she made the whole process as stress free as it can be and was always willing to go above and beyond to break costs down and help me understand everything that was happening.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We cannot thank Gil enough - Gil was our financial advisor for our first house purchase. We started searching for a house a couple months after the initial 2020 lockdown started, and the covid lockdown had caused a large amount of uncertainty and extra complexity in the housing and mortgage markets. Being first-time buyers, we were in real need of sound advice on the topics on mortgages and wider financials, as well as guidance on the wider house buying process.

How has Gil Hamilton helped you?

Gil found us the best mortgage deal at a time when there were very few low-deposit affordable mortgage offers on the market. She explained the whole house-buying process to us, helped us to develop an accurate budget, and liaised with the various parties involved (such as estate agents and solicitors) to resolve issues quickly while ensuring clear communications of information and progress. Gil also talked us through our options regarding setting up life cover, income protection policies and buildings insurance, and helped us to set these up. She has been communicative at every step, and explained the processes and any considerations clearly so that we could make an informed decision. Due to our purchase taking place during lockdown we faced several unexpected difficulties which delayed the completion process, such as our solicitors' office unfortunately contracting covid. These extraneous delays pushed our completion date back until after our mortgage offer was due to expire. Our mortgage lender was not able to sufficiently extend the existing mortgage offer, but after multiple discussions with our lender Gil was able to secure us a new mortgage offer honouring the same terms at incredibly short notice to allow the completion to go ahead. The most impressive thing was that she managed to negotiate all this during the Christmas period!

Yes - It is no exaggeration to say that if not for Gil's hard work, diligence and dedication, we would have been unable to complete and the chain would have fallen through.

What could they have done better?

Nothing - Gil really went above and beyond, and we honestly believe that our purchase would not have been successful without her invaluable help.

First of all, Gil is my daughter but please don’t skip this review as being that of a doting father! I was in the process of buying a house, and my previous financial advisor had negotiated an Equity Release mortgage, which seemed good for me, until Gil looked into the details and advised me it wouldn’t be a good idea.

Gil was amazing, she quickly secured a repayment mortgage which suited my income in a very short time. There was a huge time constraint, as completion date was approaching fast, but everything was sorted out and the funds released in time.

Yes, I now have the correct mortgage product at a competitive rate. Gil was able to navigate me through this process with minimal 'red tape', unlike some of the larger mortgage broker firms I have used in the past. Gil was so good, I have already recommended to a close friend and also my daughter for first time buyer advice.

What could they have done better?

Difficult to say, very pleased about the process. Perhaps some elements of the data collection could be systemised, however, not too much then the personal service will be lost.
