We are first time buyers, one of whom is self employed and we were also trying to avoid Stamp Duty despite a short timeframe to work with. Not only were we unaware of the processes and looking for guidance, but we were also struggling to navigate the complexities of finding willing lenders for self employed individuals during the pandemic.

How has Stewart Douglas helped you?

After taking his time to understand our current circumstances and needs, Stewart essentially automated the process of obtaining a mortgage offer for us from start to finish. Stewart kept us informed at all stages, taking the time to explain our options and preparing us for the next steps of the application in an incredibly efficient manner. Stewart fought our case when the lenders came back with lower offers than expected - something that we would not have been able to do without his help. Stewart also succesfully helped and advised us on how best to complete the purchase in time to avoid Stamp Duty - something we are incredibly grateful for. In addition to this, Stewart had a brilliant manner. He is incredibly friendly, personable and invests time in his clients to ensure they are fully aware of the process and the steps required to get a mortgage.

We couldn't have asked for a better outcome and are so thankful for Stewarts help. He supported us throughout, was always happy to pick up the phone to answer any of our queries, secured us a great mortgage offer when many lenders wouldn't even consider self-employed applications, got us a great interest rate, and also helped us to avoid Stamp Duty costs! Stewart really made what should have been the most complex part of purchasing a property so straightforward and stress-free.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was looking for a mortgage advisor and Stewart was referred to me by a family friend.

How has Stewart Douglas helped you?

As a first time buyer I was worried about getting a mortgage and my case was a bit tricky. So I was looking for a mortgage advisor who is professional and confident. Before getting to Stewart I have spoken to many advisor, some of them put up their hands other did not sound confident enough. Stewart exceeded my expectation! The first day when we spoke he sound very professional and gain my confidence that he will be able to deal with my case and give me best advise. Through out the time I have dealt with him he was outstanding on communication and kept me updated all the time.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. He got my mortgage within weeks. And went an extra mile to help me with my query and expedite the process to move things quicker.

How has Stewart Douglas helped you?

Stewart was great from the start. He gave lots of useful advice and him and his team are very efficient, I don't need to worry about the entire process. They also chase up my solicitor and keep the process going.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, definitely. He comes out with very good mortgages which are great value for money. Also, he seems to be able to keep track of my properties even though I can't.

What could they have done better?

Stewart is great. I don't think I can think of any way he could do better.

Stewart carefully noted down my requirements. There were many factors he needed to consider as it wasn't a clear cut case. He was able to source a lender and came back to me a timely fashion.

Stewart updated me throughout the whole process. He has alot of knowledge about each lender requirements so is able to act quickly and dilengtly when faced with queries. All went well in the end and achieved the result required.
