What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was 54 years old and had decided to take early retirement. I needed a financial adviser to help put a financial plan together for the rest of my life in terms of how best to deal with and optimise my pensions, investments and savings.

How has Tony Ross helped you?

Tony has constructed a clear financial plan for me giving me certainty and confidence on my future financial position. He has helped assess my different pensions and investments I have collected over my working life and consolidate them into a single and easier to manage fund.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Absolutely, I came into the process slightly cautious about whether I had made the right move to retire early, but my thinking has been validated by an expert and I now have a clear certain path in my retirement years.

What could they have done better?

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We had a very bad experience with a financial adviser who we had been with for many years. This had cost us a lot of money and caused us a great deal of stress. We felt totally let down and disillusioned. Choosing a new financial adviser is a very difficult decision to make. Consequently, we did some research and spoke to several financial advisers. During this time we spoke to somebody who highly recommended Tony Ross of Velocity Financial Planning, and once we had met him we realised why he had been recommended. We chose to work with him, and are so pleased we made that decision.

How has Tony Ross helped you?

Tony is extremely thorough. He spent time talking to us, getting to know us and to understand our situation in order to analyse what had happened, and took a holistic approach. After a number of meetings he was able to show us and help us understand why our current investments had performed so badly. He then explained how his strategy differed. He has been extremely helpful and supportive throughout a very difficult and stressful time. He always listens, provides us with useful information and has offered us very good advice. He has gone out of his way to help, guide and support us not only in financial matters, but also in a number of other ways which have proved invaluable to us, for which we are exceedingly grateful.

I first met Tony when he was working for a major regional firm which I had carefully selected following the mis-management of my investments by the previous IFA. We were approaching retirement circa 10 years ago and needed all sorts of advice in the areas highlighted. We were made aware of Tony's expertise by a partner of the audit company my company used and so we contacted him. We found him to be very professional in all that he did and a very pleasant person to deal with also. We would have absolutely no problems in passing his details on to other folk who might require similar services. In fact, we have already done so several times in the past few years and our eldest daughter is now a well-satisfied client also (she is approaching middle-age!!)
