What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We had no idea when we could retire, how much we would retire on, and simply did not have any idea how to plan our future.

“I am frightened of finance! Not the business stuff, I love that, I am on it every day, understand it, train in it and could bore most people with the importance of it, but head to the personal side and I am dreadful. I have worried for years about pensions as a self-employed person, worried about the future, but have found it easier to bury my head in the sand and keep on working without a plan. Until we found Ian Richards FPFS, Chartered Financial Planner. His no judgement, straightforward approach to helping us has been a game changer – in fact a life changer. His tool has helped us to see ahead financially, pulling in various pensions abandoned over the years, and to look at different scenarios, different life events and see how they change the future. We now know exactly what we need to do. My only regret? We should have got this advice 10 years earlier – it is really like seeing the future. I did not like the traditional commission based model with financial services.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

My wife & I were looking to organise a financial plan; pay off debts, consolidate pensions, check our mortgage deal was good and understand where to invest money once our debts were paid off.

How has Ian Richards helped you?

Ian took the time to really understand what we wanted to achieve financially and actually enabled a conversation between my wife & I at a more granular level than we had previously had. This drew out a change in direction on our current thinking and 2 years on we are in a great place financially and have a very transparent view of where we are now and how that should look across the next 5, 10 & 15 years.

We really needed to get all our personal and business finances organised and reviewed to give us peace of mind for future planning.

I can’t recommend Ian’s financial services enough, he is very thorough, has listened to all our needs and been very clear and considered in his advice and planning. Highly recommended! We wanted some clarity on several pension policies to make sure we would be comfortable in retirement as well as saving for our children’s futures...but also allowing us to budget in the present with the funds we have. With two businesses to run we have a lot to juggle, it is an ongoing process and working with Ian has been very easy with the flexibility of chatting on zoom and via email. Really happy with the service and definitely recommend.

Yes, absolutely...Some parts of the financial planning are an ongoing process as finances are constantly changing and need updating and other parts such as the pensions have been consolidated.
