What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I needed advice that was unique to my current situation.I am due to have a major life changing operation,which I was not expecting.This will require me to have a long period of time off work,with a complete life change afterwards.

How has Owain Blunkett-Evans helped you?

From the first phone call Owain listened to my situation and really took on board what i wanted to do.At that point I was not expecting to be able to get things sorted in time.Owain explained my options and answered all of my questions really clearly and even took the time for me to write down what he was saying.We arranged a meeting,with Owain offering to come to my house as i was struggling with completing the details online.At the meeting Owain gave me all of the positives and negatives involved with what i wanted to do.The meeting achieved everything I was hoping for,with Owain really understanding my situation,and what i needed to do to get things in place

I am a retired Buying Director of Sainsbury's supermarkets where,as can be anticipated, I have a long experience and judgement for products , prices/values and service.Applying this to Owain I rate him highly.I am very discerning and having been some 5 years meeting others from his market place will only deal with him for his honesty and competence.Confidence is hard won and all important and he has mine.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had a number of Pension plans with different providers (resulting mainly from periods of employment with different companies, and also one private AVC pension) which I wanted to aggregate if possible and also how I should invest a lump sum severance payment. With no experience at all in this foeld, I was recommended to Burfields by a very close and trusted friend who had been using them for years.

How has Owain Blunkett-Evans helped you?

He provided very clear and straightforward advice as to how to get the best value for my money, particularly with regards to returns on an investment ISA as well as big tax benefits on my lump sum payment. Interestingly he also advised me to leave a Final Salary Pension where it was, and not transfer it over to Burfields, as it was performing very well where it was. I liked the fact that he didn't just try and 'take' everything under Burfields wing! that really made me feel like he had my best interests at heart. Also I like his approach and style. He knew that he was dealing with people who are not well-versed in financial matters, so his advice was clear and straightforward, but never ever patronising. he took time to explain in ways that were easy to understand. He also made us feel relaxed and comfortable in our meetings with him.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Absolutely! The returns have been in line with the expectations he outlined to us, and the advice he gave on tax savings was worth thousands in itself!

What could they have done better?

In all honesty, I cannot think of anything at this moment. We meet and talk as often as necessary, but no more, so that we never feel under pressure to do anything different or change our view of our situation.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Having my affairs put in order and updated had been on my list of things to do for a very long time and was very easy to put off. One day an invitation to a seminar landed on a friends doormat which they were not interested in but I was, nothing to do with the lure of a free lunch which, proved to be excellent as was the seminar.

How has Owain Blunkett-Evans helped you?

By appraising my current situation, advising on improvements that could be made and streamlining the whole lot with the possibility of a better return. A one stop shop which is exactly what I was after. Beyond the practicalities I found Owain to be genuine, caring and with a moral compass! Additionally, his personable manner put me immediately at ease. Transparency was evident throughout.

Its too early to tell.

What could they have done better?

The process took longer than I imagined it would but that was down to product providers tardiness. That said, on one or two occasions I felt a communication (by whatever means), from the firm would have allayed any concerns.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I felt I had a reasonable handle on my affairs, and having recently remarried, I wanted to ensure that I had the balance right for providing for both my children and my new husband, as well as ensuring that what I had built would be sufficient to provide a good income during retirement, which is still some way off, and I want to bring closer!

How has Owain Blunkett-Evans helped you?

Owain worked with both of us to see how we could realise the maximum return on our fairly meagre investments. I have 5 pension pots, relating to various employments and personal investments, and Owain helped to streamline this. There were two pensions that he assessed as being better staying where they were and two that would perform better by being transferred. He made a few suggestions regarding the property that I hold and explained very clearly why those suggestions were made. Owain has been very approachable, very clear in his explanations, and very adaptable in his suggestions. He has always been extremely amenable and has made a slightly daunting process very comfortable. I feel that Owain has become a friend in this process, not a distant adviser who doesn't really know me and what my approach to finances are, which is what I have experienced in the past with other Financial Advisors. Not once have I felt pushed or obligated into an action.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

At this point, it is rather too early to tell, having only been working with Owain for a year. However, that has been quite a volatile year with regard to the finance markets, and I have felt comfortable with most of Owain's suggestions and I am certainly happy with the growth results he has achieved so far.

I cannot fault any aspect of the dealings I have had with Owain and his office.
