This was our first ever meeting with an IFA and was an initial free explanatory consultation at our request. Simon is very personable, open and easy to speak with and he clearly explained his and his companies function and the funds that our cash would be placed in. The funds performance and the markets they were currently using in were visually demonstrated very clearly to us. He gave us realistic expectations that our investment might achieve based on the level of risk we were happy with. He also gave us some useful advice on the investments we currently have pending our receipt of assets from a future house sale. An accurate summary of our meeting was emailed to us the next day after the meeting which was a useful reminder of what we had discussed. We were free to ask as many questions as we wanted throughout this initial meeting and Simon gave us very clear factual answers. Based on our experience from this initial meeting we have gained an understanding of how Simon as an IFA can make our cash work for us in the way we want it to. This initial meeting was exactly what we needed to give us the confidence to trust Simon and his company to deal with our funds in our best interest when we realise them.

Telephoned early next day, Listened, we had a good conversation and Simon felt he was not the right person to advise on the issue.

When I reached the age of 75 I had to make the decision on what to do with my three small private pension pots.

Simon listened to what I needed to do and asked me whether I was looking for a regular income or to invest my pension pots in the hope their value would increase, but also pointed out that the value of investments could also fall. He gave me very informed illustrations of the benefits of a regular income, via an annuity, and the benefits of investment, with the option of taking a 25% tax free lump sum. When I told him I preferred to invest the money he asked lots of questions to determine my level of risk perception. Having determined this he illustrated his advice, stressing that he would not personally be recommending an investment portfolio but, with my permission, would be handing this to a specialist firm. I readily agreed to this and have been very kept well informed on the performance of the investments. I would add that every meeting I’ve had with Simon has been in a warm, friendly, professional manner.

Yes. I took my 25% tax free lump sum and in the two years since the monies were invested I’ve seen very good growth.

Difficult question, as the markets never do what you want fast enough! But looking at the markets over the last five years and certainly the last two (covid) I can’t complain.

I would say, possibly have routine 6 monthly meetings instead of yearly, BUT if I really felt strongly about that I think we could anyway.

A friend recommended Simon to find me a mortgage, as I had now sold my house and was needing to sort something out pretty quickly.

How has Simon Cutler helped you?

Simon was on the Phone very quickly, he took all the required details. With a day he had come up with all the options for a Mortgage, he was able to say which ones suited me and which ones were not so good for my circumstances. But clearly saying it was my choice. After reviewing the options I was able to speak to him again and discuss the way forward. There was never any forced decisions he took his time to explain all avenues.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Even in these difficult times Simon managed to sort the mortgage quickly. Get the offer and I know he is there to help if I require it in the future. I know he will be there if I need to consult further. I was very grateful for my friends recommendation it made things so simple. NO stress on my part :)

Nothing. I found him excellent along with the staff in the office. Very friendly and helpful.
