What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Due to health issues I was looking to transfer my 3 defined benefits pension schemes into a SIPP and due to the sums involved I needed sign off from a professional advisor.

How has Ian Paxton helped you?

Ian and his team took on the work and provided a really professional and personal service during the whole process. At every step they communicated clearly and were aware of the treatment I was receiving and handled this very sensitively.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, the process was very thorough and the level of detail they provided was far more than I was expecting. The fees charged were also very competitive given the amount of work they undertook.

What could they have done better?

Nothing. The only hold up was sign-off on the indemnity insurance they had to have in place which needed legal approval via a third party. This process took longer than expected but as it was being carried out by a third party Ian had very little control on this issue and did push hard to get it pushed through.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Retirement and the need to vest my personal pension fund

How has Ian Paxton helped you?

Ex Financial Services, I was well aware of the lottery in finding a good adviser. At that time I was running a general insurance brokers with a sister company in wealth management. I lunched with employees of that firm regularly and Ians name and the quality of his advice came up regularly over the lunch table. When I retired 2011 it was natural for me to turn to him for advice.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The funds recommended have, without exception performed well and the charges have at the low end of my expectations. I have found Ians colleagues very efficient and easy to deal with and have had no hesitation in recommending Ian to a neighbour seeking advice.

What could they have done better?

Having spent nearly 30 years selling life and pensions and managing others, if there was any shortcomings I would have noted and dealt with them but I can say, hand on heart that, rather like Ceasars wife, he is beyond reproach.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Probably due to the PPI claims, now you have to take independent financial advice before transferring a pension. I transferred all my pensions some years ago and kept just one which showed a £100k pot and £15k pension the last time I had an 'illustration' some years ago. When I evaluated it Dec 2019 it had a pot of £150k and a pension of £5k per year, which at 64 years of age means I would have to live until 94 for it to have been viable and as my wife and I have a portfolio of 11 (rental) properties, I thought I could get better returns managing this amount myself.

How has Ian Paxton helped you?

Ian Paxton evaluated my situation and recommended that I did not take my remaining works pension. I disagreed, but had the necessary 'Report' showing I had done my due diligence.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. I now have £150k to add to my existing six figure sum invested at Hargreaves Lansdown.

What could they have done better?

Nothing really, I believe this is a Government backed scheme to stop too many people cashing in their pensions and 'spending the family silver'.

Please provide a brief comment about your experience with Ian

I was quite determined that I knew the correct path for my pension, however Ian advised otherwise even although that meant no fees would be coming his way. Integrity.
