Lucy arranged a meeting that would fit into our busy schedule. She provided clear advice on how she could help to provide our financial expections. Having recently retired, we wanted advice about how to manage our pension pots as well as some help with understanding any gaps that we needed to plug to ensure a reasonable income in our retirement

We consulted Lucy after having recently retired. Lucy gave us a forecast that helped us to understand whether or not our retirement income was sufficient for our needs. She helped with consolidating separate pension 'pots' into one that can be monitored/managed online and in a fund that better suits our needs. Lucy gave us useful tools that supported with analysing our spending and our priorities for the immediate and longer term future. She arranged several meetings to listen to our needs, including attitude to risk, so that she understood them fully before providing us with advice which she was careful to ensure we understood. She also advised us about key points in the future when we should review if we did not take up the option of an annual review with her.

In terms of understanding our situation better, the consultation with Lucy was extremely helpful and she explained things clearly, going over anything we did not understand until she was sure that we had absorbed the information. In terms of the recommended pension fund performance, it is too early to say.

Lucy is my new IFA. She has been very professional, well organised and knowledgeable in getting our relationship started. She explains things very clearly and is very considerate and calm.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I wanted a professional's opinion on my overall finances to make sure I was doing my best. I also wanted to look into more sustainable and ethical investment options. In particular though I wanted a holistic plan put together rather than just simply a review of the investment funds I might have.

Lucy has put together a forecast based on my circumstances and goals which was also tested against many different historical investment return combinations to give me a likelihood of success. I also now have a financial plan document which gives me a traffic light rating on different areas of my finances which is very useful and gives me actionable next steps.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I wanted to plan realistically for a life after retirement - and most importantly to know how soon that could happen so that I could do all the other things I want to do. I am 57, and that future was blurry - I needed clarity from an expert.

Lucy worked out a forecast for me based on several very complicated pensions that not even other pensions professionals could understand them. She worked tirelessly at it, plugging away to get answers - and finally came up with a projected income that has completely transformed what I thought I might be able to achieve (in a good way).

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The outcome exceeds what I was hoping for - I needed a clear view of my disparate assets and a plan, and those are exactly what Lucy has provided. I found the graphs complicated to begin with - I am innumerate, which is one of the many reasons I needed her help in the first place - but she patiently worked through them and answered many, many questions until I finally understood. I leave her feeling much more confident about the future, able to make plans and with no middle-of-the-night panics about questions I know I should have answers to - because now I have them.

Absolutely nothing. The team at TFPL are efficient and friendly and do exactly what they say they will.
