What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

My husband & I had applied for a mortgage with a high street lender & were declined because of the quickly changing environment Covid-19 had presented. They were wary & felt we were too high risk as I am self-employed & my husband had been working shorter hours.

How has Martin Jeffery helped you?

Martin couldn't have been more helpful. Firstly, he acted extremely quickly which was important as we were holding up our chain by not having finance in place. Secondly, he found us a great deal with a lender who through experience he was confident would lend to us. Finally, Martin could not have been more professional, efficient & thorough.

Yes! We were delighted to receive a mortgage offer for the full amount & are waiting to complete our purchase.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

At fifty five, I separated from my long term partner, selling the family house would not be an option for me because of the age of my children. So I found myself looking for a second morgage on a new property. I had a good income, been employed for years, should not really be a problem. - Think again, at my age, most lenders didn't want to lend to me beyond 14years, and most of the morgage advisors I spoke to told me that I would not be able to obtain another morgage. It seemed to me that I was at a watershed, this would be the last real opportunity to borrow for a morgage, if I were to wait, then my circumstances might not be so good and whilst I might have the deposit, I might not have the necessary collateral in eyes of the lenders to be able to borrow again. The world has never been more uncertain in my lifetime.

I knew my circumstances would not be easy, but Martin managed to get me a deal over twenty years, meaning for the next four years I would not have to pay rediculous morgage fees and could still enjoy a quality of life, for the all the effort I put into my job. My application was initially turned down, but Martin advised me on what I would need to do to paint my case more favourably to the lenders. My morgage was a relatively small deal, yet he still gave my case the time and effort that I needed, also giving me more general advice.

I finally got the morgage offer I wanted over twenty years - many thanks Martin. I will be able to own a property rather than being forced into renting. The offer was not really in question, the term was the critical issue. My bank would lend me the money over just 14 years meaning that I would be working to pay the morgage company, the CSA, the utilities but effectively my life would have to be on hold. This all sounded more like a sentence rather than something to be pleased about.

Nothing - I cannot fault the advise of help I have been given.
