What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I have used Jim Stokes as my financial advisor for a number of years. This year I spoke to him about moving house and getting a new mortgage.

He advised on the mortgage and got us the best deal possible. He was extremely helpful throughout and his knowledge and expertise in this area is second to none.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, definitely.

What could they have done better?

I do not think he could have done anything better.

Getting nearer to retirement I wanted to properly arrange/combine several pensions that I had. Separately, after having a 'One Account' for several years I wanted to move to a repayment mortgage so I could clearly see how the outstanding balance was being tackled!

For both of the above pieces, Jim went through (in very clear detail) all aspecs of what we were looking at and how we could proceed.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Outcomes have been excellent for both. My pension has now all been combined and can be clearly looked at to see how it is progressing. For the mortgage, we have now gone on to a very low fixed mortgage rate. The change over was handled smoothly with no issues throughout.

What could they have done better?

My financial advisers could not have been more helpful so I sadly (?) can't make any negative comments!

Yes, we have since been back to Jim when it was time to remortgage.

As always Jim's approach balanced the professional with the personal striking the right balance between getting the best deal and our family circumstances so we got the perfect solution. Jim took care of all the necessary paperwork and liaised with the lender on aspects we would not have been able to sort ourselves.

Yes, we have got a great deal at a price that was better than expected and gives us much needed certainty in uncertain times whilst still giving us flexibility to overpay.

My personal circumstance are always changing as is the financial landscape and I needed independent sound and considered advice on my position across different investments

Mr Stokes has helped my constantly to rebalance my financial portfolios, prepare for retirement, consider future investments , reduce Investment risks and be more cautious in some approach’s taken

Following discussion ahead of Brexit and the steps taken I was very well placed financially . I have benefited from the advice given and subsequently from the market moves experienced during the pandemic.

What could they have done better?

Mr Stokes has always offered sound solid and considered advice. He does not cover all areas but that has been extended over time. So he is now better positioned to offer additional advice

I don't really have any suggestions for Jim I like his enthusiasm and very thorough approach

I was coming towards retirement age and needed strong advice about my future financial arrangements and how to manage my pensions.

Explained all the options available to me and pointed me in the most favourable directions without pressuring me to take any particular decision. He's always been at the end of the phone when I've needed any further advice.

Obviously with recent factors affecting the world economy, things haven't quite gone to plan but I feel confident this will change once the uncertainty has passed.

What could they have done better?

I don't feel Jim could have done anything better for me.

I was looking for a trusted financial advisor to deal with, not only my financial planning, but also my family's financial planning. Jim was recommended to me by a friend. As a business owner for the past 33 years I had very little confidence in financial advisors until I met Jim.
