Political uncertainty, our increasing age and the need to recognise the opportunity of passing wealth to our children were all persuasive arguments to prompt an independent review of our inheritance options. We do have an IFA to look after investments but their advice was not free of bias driven my commission on sales of inheritance and insurance based solutions.

Nothing. My only concern, and this is not related to Henry, is that one cannot look into the future and see whether one’s choices and indeed Henry’s strategies work out! If one were to have two or three IFA’s advice, there would likely be some disagreement based on a client’s situation, but we have one view, an excellent view no less, but still only one.

Wanted a trusted advisor to model out our goals and see if these were achievable and the help produce a plan to get there. Wanted simplicity in our set up as well check up on our performance.

Fees are overall competitive and fair versus the market. Fee structure could however be more tailored to the skill set and knowledge of the advice offered. There are elements of their advice which are hugely valuable and deserve higher fees. There are other elements of work which are more administrative.

He would only charge us for his time in researching suitable platforms and administering the establishment of the accounts. This is what he did. In doing so, he was also extremely patient in waiting for the necessary documentation from players on our side. Other advisers we approached treated us like any other wealth management clients and offered only high-cost options without apparently taking our needs into account.

In the circumstances, nothing could have been done better. There was the odd administrative slip, but this was understandable given the length of time it took US (not Henry) to get ducks in a row.

Not Henry's fault but it took a very long time to obtain information from my existing pension providers for example, as inputs into his analysis. That was more down to Covid and the general pace at which pension providers work though, I think.

There is an obvious need for strong security, but this means there is more than one portal needed in order to access information, which I can find confusing at times, particularly when I haven’t accessed them for a while. I certainly believe that I have, as I have felt treated as an important client with my own unique individual and specific circumstances / needs which were met beyond my expectations. The process was easy and simple through email correspondence / information and two face-to-face meet ups in the London offices. The new SIPP has been up and running for a while now and I can check the performance on-line and get quarterly results alerts via email. I'm pleased with the current growth, the easy access and the ease of communication through either Henry, the team at Efficient Portfolio and the SIPP account itself.

What could they have done better?

From my rather limited experience with Financial Advisers I can not state that I'm the best to answer this question, however, despite my very humble situation (I'm a simple Registered Healthcare Practitioner) I have felt that Henry provides an individually targeted approach and truly wants to help people. I can't really fault his services. The only thing I could think of is that for people who may have difficulties getting to the offices in person, it may be helpful for a Financial Adviser to visit them at their home to discuss things that are confidential and personal . But I don't know if this is something that Henry may already offer.

I have not yet managed to act on Henry's advice (due to lack of time with a new baby) but aim to do so in the next week or two. I may not use exactly the policies that Henry suggested but they will give me a great foundation to work from. I found Henry to be very helpful and informative about the products he suggested to me. I would recommend friends and colleagues to use Henry in future for any financial planning queries.

I honestly can't find a fault with the service I received from Henry, communication was very swift and the advice was very helpful.
