I had a few frozen pensions plus an existing work pension and private pension, I was getting closer to retirement age and wanted to ensure that I was getting the best value out of them and make sure I could retire with a decent pension fund.

Marc visited me at my home and I filled in a questionnaire. which helped him to decide the risk levels to take, he advised me of the risks and what my options were, as time progressed I received regular yearly updates, then when retirement came nearer he advised what to do with the frozen pensions and handled the transfer of them in to my private pension that he had set up for me from our first meeting.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
I am delighted with the outcome of my pension, last year I was in desperate need of a hip replacement operation, having waited two years and unable to see an NHS surgeon Marc was able to obtain the finances for me to be able to have the operation, my wife are both retired in our seventies and are lucky enough we are in a position to be able to afford to have out heating on at home.
What could they have done better?
I do not think there is anything they could do better, I mostly communicate by email.

Marc is extremely knowledgeable and patient and clearly researches thoroughly for innovative products which have suited my needs. He listens well and asks the right questions to ascertain my needs and short and longer term goals: then is very clear when suggesting and presenting solutions. He always takes my risk rating into account when identifying ways to invest and makes sure I understand well, before taking decisions. I feel very confident when dealing with him and trust him implicitly.

Yes, whilst for the past 18 months my draw-down pension has not performed as well as hoped (mainly due to wider issues post pandemic and an economic downturn in the UK) Marc has introduced me to other investments such as structured products which have done well and have served and are serving their purpose, most notably plugging the gap in pension income.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?
I was not receiving any advice, on my pension or investment matters, and becoming concerned about my finances as I headed towards retirement.
How has Marc Dicks-Jones helped you?
After several meetings with Marc, in which he described the options available for future financial planning, and the possible outcomes, together we managed to arrive at a product I considered suitable.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Marc fully explained the potential risks of all the options available, along with the potential gains, so to date taking into consideration the global financial markets the outcome is as expected.
What could they have done better?
the service received, in my opinion would be hard to improve. I feel confident that Marc and all the colleagues at Insight will continue to strive for anything they consider worthwhile improvements.

I had a few pensions and was approaching retirement age and wanted to review and see if I was on track

I filled in a questionnaire which dictated the level of risk I wanted to take, Marc looked at what pensions I had and advised to stay with my company pension and one frozen company pension and suggested I change the private pension I had taken out, which he did for me

To provide for my children's education and then later to provide a retirement income and long-term investments for house maintenance etc

He has asked me perceptive questions to help me establish financial goals for myself and my family and has always given professional, specialist advice and actioned any instructions in a timely manner. I have particularly appreciated all the knowledge that he has around pensions and the rules which have changed over the years.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
On the whole, absolutely! Clearly the current economic situation is pretty weak. However, Marc has always been transparent about market volatility and has always encouraged and enabled me, through careful planning not to be in a position where I would need to crystalise a loss.

Marc put all the plans into one fund, explaining the process in detail making it simple to understand

Yes, the pension pot has grown and has only changed with changes in the market. Regular updates on the markets and status of the pension plan are helpful as well.

Nothing that I am aware of as the level of communication is exellent. If I did have any questions Marc is always available to discuss and explain anything that is needed.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?
I had more than one pension and required advice regarding pension as I was approaching my retirement age.
How has Marc Dicks-Jones helped you?
Marc came to see me at home and I filled in a questionnaire to decide what level of risk would be best for me. He looked at my frozen pensions, my current work pension and one private pension that I was paying into, he advised that I leave my frozen and company pension and changed my private pension which turned out to be a better one.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
Just before I retired we reviewed them again and he advised that I transfer into my existing private pension that had been performing well, which I have done, and so far I have been reasonably happy with.
What could they have done better?
I don't believe there is much he could have done better.

My wife first used Marc and when I met him I was impressed by his professionalism, knowledge and understanding. I have no regrets.
