Following early retirement in 2012 we wanted a review of various investments assembled in previous years to ensure we had the right balance to promote growth and future income.

I have several 'pensions' with various companies I have worked for over the years. I keep putting off doing something with them because, quite frankly it is all so complicated but as I am now 75 I feel that I cannot put it off for much longer.

Desire to consolidate investments into professionally managed funds rather than to take chances and rely on my own judgement. Since being retired my income is diminished so I can't replace money lost.

Talked through HL Fund and Share account and ISA. Advised on a list of Funds within HL Wealth 150+ concept. Advised on proportion of money to be placed in a variety of funds.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The Funds have provided a good income return with some moderate growth. I've increased the money I have in Funds but still retain a healthy balance as single shares. This is because they return better dividends than do the Funds.

What could they have done better?

I regret that I didn't specify that dividends be reinvested. That was because I was going to need the dividends as part of my pension. This resulted in inactive money lying in my account. I've since changed this instruction as I can easily sell Funds as necessary. He could have suggested that I pay the monthly charges out of the Fund & Share account. I've changed this now and it effectively gives me an extra £1,200 ISA investment per year.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

My wife & I received a large inheritance so wanted wanted advice on investments for some income and to preserve the lump sum.

He studied our financial situation on data I provided and understood our 5 year aims. He made a series of recommendations for investments in a comprehensive report, which we shared with our executor brother in law.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes.. the sums invested have increased by 15.6% since July-August 2016 to end of June 2018. Furthermore I have received interest & dividends worth £ 6173 in 2017 and £ 3640 to June 2018.

What could they have done better?

I am particularly pleased with investments in HSBC Holdings, Royal Shell B shares, Artemis Income & Eden Tree Income. Less so in Woodford Equity Income & Income Focus where I have lost £1258 i.e 2.8% of my investments in these two funds. If the figures don't improve in the 6 months I plan to sell as Woodford seems to lose his touch.

I had a lump sum from a company pension scheme which I wanted to put into a SIPP.

Its not a comment about Tean, but H-L do not have a good offer for generating interest on cash balances held in a SIPP.

Redundancy coupled with an inheritance , and several investments that had been held for a number of years, left me in a position where I felt I needed a second opinion on what I was doing financially.

Three and half years on and the advice given has largely stood the test of time. The recommended strategy remains the basis of my approach to investments. The charges were clearly outlined, and the performance of the investments over time compared with doing nothing has adequately offset the costs.
