John was extremely easy to work with discussing financial planning for the future. He was clear, concise and professional, yet friendly and very personable. We connected in Johns ethos of looking at finances in a holistic way and working towards a personal plan for our family. It was a pleasure to meet John and we look forward to continuing our journey with him.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

John was a great help to myself and my husband as we moved towards retirement. He looked at our current financial outgoings and future requirements, and by modelling our finances over the medium and long term across various scenarios he was able to show us whether we would be able to retire comfortably on our savings (we were). John and his team also helped us to consolidate my numerous pension pots, in some cases in the face of very high administrative hurdles. They are all friendly, efficient and very responsive, and we feel very lucky to have them on hand to help us with our financial planning, now and hopefully long into the future.

How has John Surgenor helped you?

Yes. John demonstrated to us that we would be able to retire on the money we had saved, and we have been very happy to retain the services of John and his team going forward. For many people selecting a financial services adviser can be a matter of luck. John/Barrington Hamilton came to our attention through the recommendation of a friend of my husband, and having been with John and his team for a couple of years now I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I was approaching retirement and was keen to find someone to assist my wife and myself with our long-term financial planning going forward.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We wanted to find a financial advisor as retirement was approaching, and we were aware that some important financial decisions lay ahead. We had been for some years with an excellent advisor who retired. He sold the business on to a company that initially looked a good fit, but they in turn sold it on to a much bigger concern, which only dealt with their own products, and were very unresponsive. We were very pleased to have been recommended to try Barrington Hamilton instead. We now feel much more confident that we understand our financial options.

How has John Surgenor helped you?

John, who is entirely independent, has overhauled out portfolio, recommending products which seem to us far better value for our circumstances. He and his colleagues are very responsive, and always get back to us promptly to deal with any queries and requests. Our annual reviews are always extremely helpful, and it is a pleasure to deal with John.

We are very happy with the outcome.

I found John to be very personable and trustworthy. Our initial meeting was very positive and thought provoking, with John's approach being more person centred than money orientated.
