What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had a number of pensions from different employments. I was aware I needed to consolidate and make my money best work for me. I simply didn't know where to start.

How has Katharine Ross helped you?

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

After I retired , my Works Pension and Old Age Pension were coming in. However I had also two separate 'small pension pots' both with the same pension company. I wanted to combine these and withdraw' lump sums' over time. With the assistance of Katharine and her team I was able to withdraw cash over three years at a level which ensured my tax remained within the normal 20% band. They have kept a close eye on the process throughout .

How has Katharine Ross helped you?

Katharine has been instrumental in bringing this process to a very satisfactory conclusion , my final 'lump sum' application has been approved by the pension company.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I'm pleased to say that everything has worked out as we had planned.

What could they have done better?

I can not fault the team at Smith & Wardle, It has been a pleasure dealing with them. I thank them for the care and curtesy extended to my wife and I during our years as clients .

I was in a group pension scheme with limited options regarding the fund if anything happened to me.

Really pleasant and personable to deal with, is interested in best financial outcome for me and trying to keep ongoing charges as low as possible so least impact to fund growth.

I was approaching the age when I could choose to start drawing a company defined-benefit pension scheme and wanted to make an informed decision about whether it made sense to take an initial tax-free lump sum, taking into consideration other savings, investments and pensions that I and my wife have. I also wanted to have someone to have a look at our overall fiancial position icnluding IHT planning and what we should be doing now for our children.
