I wanted to find out if I could retire early and I needed confidence in the numbers that would confirm the lifestyle I could expect given my financial situation.

She made me think! I filled in questionnaires on my current circumstances, what I needed in my retirement, my attitude to risk and reward, as well as ethical investments. What came back was a huge amount of information! Each bar chart - and there were a lot - was talked through and the details explained. I know when I could run out of money given different scenarios, and how much income I could expect given ‘reasonable’ growth. She was confident with the numbers and alternative scenarios that could happen.

It was a lot of information to take in. Ideally I would have liked it split into 2 sessions so that I could have had time to process the information. I will have to book another session to treble check understanding.

I wanted the opportunity to review my plans with a knowledgeable person, and was attracted by Lisa's knowledge and the option to pay a one off fee for this. I didn't want to pay an ongoing fee, and didn't need any products and it was helpful to have that option with an experienced advisor.

I enjoyed the session, and it highlighted that I could push myself to invest a bit more for retirement which I have done. It also highlighted issues of long term care and how I will pay off my mortgage and given a different perspective.

What could they have done better?

The only thing I didn't like was that Lisa had to enter my figures manually into her software during the call - I felt as if I could have done that beforehand or she could have asked one of her team to do that prior to our talk. Nevertheless I was still able to cover most of the points I wanted to ask about, and she listened well to my specifics.

I've built up a lot of wealth a lot quicker than I expected for my age and came from a poor background so I came to the point where I needed advice

I’m not sure this is the remit of LCH or financial advisors in general but I’m very new and naive to money management and investment and maybe some more coaching before going into ‘investment mode’ could have helped ease my deeply embedded money fears.
