I was retiring and wanted to consolidate several company pensions, to provide a low risk income.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had a company pension from a past job which I needed more information on. I also wanted to find out what had happened to my contributions since I had opted out of Serps many years ago. I didn't fully understand how Serps worked nor the implications of opting out.

How has Yianni Theodorou helped you?

Yianni obtained information about my company pension and explained how the scheme works. Yianni also gave me an explanation as to what 'opting out of Serps' actually means and after investigation and research, he discovered that my Serps payments over the years had grown to be quite a substantial pot - something which was a very nice surprise. This was to become very useful to me in later years and money which I had never factored into my retirement plans.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes I have. I got full clarity on how my company pension works, but I was delighted to find out that my decision to opt out of Serps many years ago, had allowed a savings pot to grow steadily and substantially over that time without me being aware. So what Yianni unearthed was fantastic and very welcome news to me. He helped me understand my options at that point and how best I could make sure that this money continues to work hard for me. A great result.

What could they have done better?

Even though I was asking him questions about schemes which I really didnt understand, Yianni very patiently gave me all the information and clarity I needed in easy to understand simple jargon-free language. And he fully met the brief of helping me to understand much more about the schemes involved. He could not have done any more - his help and the time he spent with me was invaluable and he couldnt have done any more.
