What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was soon to hit the grand old age of 55 ;) and for a while had been bombarded with information from existing pension providers advising on next steps on how to proceed with either drawing a tax free amount or transferring existing pot's to a new pension etc. After initial contact with a well known online advertised business, I decided that the way forward would be to make contact with a local to Grantham financial advise company, and my first choice was Castlegate after reading reviews etc, and I'm so glad I did.

How has Lucy Guinness helped you?

After my initial meeting with Lucy and proving all my current pension details and carrying out a risk assessment and talking over what options would be available to me, Lucy set to work investigating and making contact with my providers, she gave me a timeline and in the grand scheme of things didn't take long at all providing details on best way forward, I had always had an idea I would want to take my tax free amount from all three pensions as I had some family plans and home improvements I wanted to carry out, though one policy proved to be a no go due to MVR exit fee's so I decided after advice from Lucy to leave this one intact and not to touch it, after a previous conversation and email correspondance I decided to take my tax free allowance on the remaining two policies, after our meeting yesterday she provided details of how both policies would be transfered into a new modern pension and in the process I would receive my tax free amount, she explained the whole process in terms which I could understand which was great.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Indeed, yes I have seen the outcome I was hoping for, even though one pension was unavailbale due to MVR, I'm extremely happy with final outcome, also Lucy explained what potentially I could look at going into the future getting closer to my retirement age, and even before.

What could they have done better?

Honestly I cannot think of anything really, all the way along teh process, she kept me up to date by email mostly and a catchup by phone in between intial meeting and meeting to sign paperwork.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

To consolidate my pension funds into one pot that I could easily keep track of on an app.

Lucy was very helpful and explained how the new pension pot we transferred into was far more suitable and flexible for my needs.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, I was unsure at first but a couple of months in my fund has seen good growth and I'm very happy with the outcome.

What could they have done better?

Lucy inherited my account from a previous adviser at her firm who took ages to respond to anything which I was getting very frustrated with. He left the company and Lucy took my account over and the difference was night and day. She responded in a timely fashion with any query I had and got things sorted quickly and efficiently.

A calm, straight talking person, who related a good understanding of the areas covered.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

It was a mine field , some were old pensions. We weren’t getting anywhere when we called the relevant pension companies, so decided to take advise.

How has Lucy Guinness helped you?

We found Lucy very friendly, easy to talk to, and extremely helpful with the advice she gave, and is still giving. Every aspect was explained, and she took the time to answer all our questions and queries.

We hopefully will do, as this is still an ongoing matter.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We were looking to consolidate several pensions into one and, at aged 57, I was curious about the size of the pot, the likely income it would deliver and when I could start benefitting from it.

How has Lucy Guinness helped you?

Lucy was v helpful and personable from the outset. Lucy has a skill in demystifying pensions and retirement income. She is an excellent and empathetic listener and quickly grasps situations and requirements. After the meetings, Lucy is responsive and appears to have a good/productive relationship with the pension providers. We think Lucy 'gets us' and offers advice that is individual and tailored versus generic.

Yes, returns have been excellent this last couple of years and we are happy with all aspects of working with Lucy.

What could they have done better?

Nothing springs to mind

I was worried about Labour nicking my pension.

Lucy was very friendly and professional. She explained some very confusing and complex paperwork and processes very clearly. She was very patient and very knowledgeable. I would certainly recommend Lucy to anyone
