Following a successful career in the charitable housing sector, Robin has worked in the financial services profession since 1991. After qualifying, he worked as an adviser with a large national firm, helping to develop and deliver financial planning services to wealthy individuals, business owner clients and Small Medium Enterprises (‘SME’s). Robin is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society (FPFS) and an Associate of the Institute of Financial Planning (AIFP). He has been awarded the prestigious title of Chartered Financial Planner, which only a minority of advisers in his profession have achieved. He is also a pension transfer specialist, holding The Advanced Financial Planning Diploma in Pensions and has won many industry awards including being one of the three finalists out of 3000 Chartered Financial Planners in the UK in the Chartered Financial Planner of the Year Awards for both 2011 and 2012. He is now studying for his Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) qualification. The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) is the leading worldwide professional body for practitioners in the fields of trusts, estates and related issues. STEP members help families plan their long term financial future, facilitating good stewardship and financial planning across future generations. STEP members also help families comply with the often complex tax rules surrounding trusts, estates and inheritance. This will further enhance Matrix Capital’s inheritance tax and estate planning services to our Private Clients. Robin founded Matrix Capital Limited in 2004 and has extensive experience of advising a variety of clients including entrepreneurs, business owners, senior executives and those from other professions. Robin is a results orientated individual; known for his creativity, innovative thinking and problem solving. He can distil complex situations into simple and often incredibly innovative solutions. He is very active in the business community as Chairman of Telford Business Partnership – helping to develop collaborative working opportunities amongst business professional services (BPS) firms in Shropshire; and has recently been invited to join Telford Business Board . He has also been appointed as the ‘Chartered Champion’ for the Shropshire and Stafforshire region by the PFS to raise awareness of the financial planning profession and to encourage others to raise their professional qualifications to become Chartered Financial Planners. On a local level, Robin is also very active as the Secretary of the Morville Countryside Club, which helps to preserve and encourage rural skills such as ploughing, wine-making and hedge-laying; and helps to raise significant amounts of money to support local charities such as Midlands Air Ambulance. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and his daughter. He is also passionate about fly-fishing and other countryside activities, mountain biking, cooking and (weirdly!) the ballet. A perfect ‘free day’ would be catching a wild sea trout on the Towy, cooking it in the Aga; and then sitting around the dining table sharing a good bottle of wine and enjoying thought provoking conversation with close friends and family! Robin’s Unique Ability® is: “Creating value and getting results for people by thinking outside the box.”
