As a long-term fee-based, independent financial planner, my focus is firmly on what our clients want to achieve in their lives and how to position their finances to help them reach their goals. We believe strongly in professionalism, the practical application of knowledge and service as the key to a successful adviser/client relationship. Following a successful career in financial services training, and having qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Financial Planning and Fellow of the Society of Financial Advisers, I began my advisory career in 1999 as a fee based independent financial planner. I specifically chose to be a fee based financial planner, working in association with accountants and lawyers, as I firmly believed that this was the best way to deliver quality financial planning to clients. After 13 years running the financial planning division of a medium sized accountancy practice, their decision to sell the business led me to set up Pelican in order to continue to provide the high quality, independent financial planning and service that I believe clients deserve. Given the length of my career as an adviser my clients are diverse. Many run or have run their own businesses; many are senior employees in companies that range from local to international; many are academics or doctors and I specialise in advice related to the LGPS, USS, NHS and Teacher's Pension schemes; many are retired and I advise not only them but their wider families also; all receive high quality advice and top notch service
