What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

An increasing sense of nervousness regarding financial matters whilst also being aware of the importance of financial planning and saving for my future.

How has James Wallace helped you?

By making complicated things seem significantly less so. James does more than just give financial advice - he really helped me to understand what I wanted for my future and only then did he advise on the options available to me. Whilst this seems like a simple process in hindsight, assessing what I wanted to achieve going forwards was not something I was able to do independently.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes - I have a clear financial plan.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Long term planning, looking after kids, not understanding the various options and tax implications.

How has James Wallace helped you?

James is not your usual breed of financial adviser. He is really (genuinely) interested in your values, goals and ambitions, and making your money work for you in achieving those things. James has helped us get an holistic view of our finances, helped to diversify our investments and helped us both in terms of a few immediate changes and in thinking about some longer term changes we might make in future. James has not sought to move our money around just for the sake of it, and much of his advice was about leaving things as they are (where they were already working for us).

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

So far so good, it is early days but we now have a plan in place and a sense of direction for our finances, which we did not have before.

What could they have done better?

Nothing so far!

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had a "financial advisor" for years - paying considerable money to St James' Place, but realised I had never actually even spoken to my financial advisor. After getting married and having a child, I considered it necessary to seek actual advice to better understand how to support my family into the future.

How has James Wallace helped you?

James has taken the time to understand my background - where I have come from, the family I have, and where the source of my income/wealth is. He has then sought to identify what my goals are and then work through how to best achieve these. James did an excellent job of making his advice easy to follow and understand, and rather than simply seeking to sell products, was keen to identify ways to balance work vs life - putting me as a client first. He has helped me look at my whole family to maximise investment and savings benefits, as well as given advice about new structures for income going forward based on my overall position.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes - I am much more confident that I am utilising my income and savings in a much better way, and I have a clear picture of how to best provide the future I hoping for.
